“I painted this piece while I was still living in Paris. My apartment was exactly what you imagine a broke artist’s apartment in Paris to look like. But it did have a tiny balcony. One of those that you can’t even walk on. A big pigeon was sitting on it while I was gazing outside and I realized that we had the same view. A street pigeon had such a beautiful view on the old streets of Paris – without paying any rent.”
